The spread is real, and it is not random. Camera count, resolution, and whether you are covering a home or a factory each move the number. Something else moved it in 2026 too, which most price guides have not caught up with yet.

What a Complete Set Actually Contains
When a dealer says “CCTV set” the contents vary, so check the list before comparing two quotes.
A proper kit includes cameras, dome for indoors and bullet for outdoors, plus a DVR or NVR to record, a hard disk of 1TB to 4TB, cable, a power supply, BNC connectors and mounting brackets, and mobile app access.
The gap that catches people out. Most online listings show camera and recorder cost only. Hard disk, cable, power supply and installation are separate, and together they add ₹2,000 to ₹8,000 to a small system.
Why Prices Went Up in 2026
This is the part missing from older price guides, and it explains quotes that look higher than last year.
From 1 April 2026, cameras that do not meet MeitY’s Essential Requirements can no longer be manufactured, imported or sold in India. Why the cheapest sets are still cheap

So a ₹8,000 four-camera analog HD kit and a ₹25,000 four-camera IP kit are not the same product facing the same rules. That is a large part of the price gap you are seeing.

What to ask before paying
Ask for the BIS registration number, the R-number, for the exact model, and check the packaging carries the Standard Mark. Under the Compulsory Registration Scheme, nobody may manufacture, store for sale, import, sell or distribute goods lacking that mark and number.
STQC certification is a separate, deeper route required for government and PSU procurement. For a home or shop, BIS is your check.
